The tourist hotel is a classified commercial accommodation establishment, which offers furnished rooms or apartments for rent to a passing clientele who makes a stay there characterized by rental by the day, week or month, but who, with some exceptions, does not take up residence there. It may include a catering service.

Main regulations

Since July 2012, all hotels must be class Tourist Hotels in stars, from 1 to 5 stars.

Before any hotel project, it is essential to respect the rules in force concerning the creation of a hotel establishment.

  • Contact the Tourist Office to find out all the information necessary for the creation of your project, marketing, the supports at your disposal and... join a network

The ranking

The Atout France star ranking

The owner requests the classification of his hotel in stars in order to guarantee the quality of service offered according to the level obtained. In order to have your hotel classified, the owner uses an organization accredited at the national level, or at the local level.

List of accredited organizations for Vendée:

The organization carries out a visit to your accommodation with a control grid. In the month following this visit, he will give you a visit certificate which includes:

  • A report and a control grid
  • A proposal for a decision to classify your furnished accommodation

The decision is valid 5 . It states:

  • Your name (and possibly the name of your agent)
  • The address of the furnished tourist accommodation, its capacity expressed in number of people that can be accommodated and the category of its classification
