The Vendée Bocage tourist center was commissioned by the 6 communities of municipalities of the Syndicat Mixte du Pays du Bocage vendéen to lead and coordinate the harmonization of the tourist tax and the deployment of a tax dematerialization tool.
As such, the New Territories Agency was chosen to provide the software and coordinate the deployment of the system.
The tourist tax
The proceeds from the tax contribute to financing the tourism development projects of the Communities of Municipalities and the Department of Vendée (additional tax).
For our tourist area, whose major attraction is the Puy du Fou, the issues of the tourist tax are multiple:
- Implement the 2017 amending finance law which introduces a percentage on unclassified accommodation
- Facilitate tax processing for users and hosts by simplifying procedures
- Harmonize rates and collection periods for the 6 Communities of Municipalities to facilitate the processing of the tax by community agents and by digital operators.
- Enable better monitoring and better tax collection for the territories
- Establish a reliable tourist activity observatory and better support our various partners
2024 tourist tax rates
The 6 communities of communes of the Pays du Bocage Vendée deliberated before 30/06/2023 for a new price list applicable as of 01/01/2024.
Since 2019, marketing platforms (Booking, Airbnb, etc.) have been required to collect tourist tax on behalf of hosts. This is returned to the communities taking into account the deliberations of the communities.

Since 2019, the 6 communities of Municipalities have used a single platform for the dematerialization of the tourist tax. There tourist tax platform from the Nouveaux Territoires agency.
- Regardless of the nature of the stay, the tourist tax must be paid unless exempt.
- In labor law, fixed-term contracts and seasonal employment contracts are different.
