The visit of the Logis de la Chabotterie in Vendée Bocage
The House is a typical example of Poitevin architecture. Its refined interiors bear witness to the art of living of gentlemen in the countryside. Built at the end of the XNUMXth century by the Chabot family, the Logis de la Chabotterie is a remarkable example of Vendée buildings. It has the particularity of being furnished and accessorized as if the inhabitants still lived there.

A scenographic space 500 m2 with giant screens, soundscapes plunge us into the heart of the Vendée War. Live the experience in immersion to understand the reasons for this war, the military strategies of the two camps, the emblematic characters.
The garden and the park
Near the house, it is a pleasure garden with carpets of flowers and boxwood. Side park, it is a vegetable garden in squares which mixes with the flowers to be cut. This French-style garden opens onto the park and becomes the point of perspective for the long bridle path, its orchard, its labyrinth and its wood.
The Park raised shelters a course dedicated to the last fight of Charrette. Follow the course of the works of Gilles Scheid and relive General Charrette's last moments of freedom through the meadows and woods of the Chabotterie estate. This beautiful natural space continues to be developed. The Issoire, the small watercourse criss-crossing the park, has regained its historic route and all of its biodiversity.

Music Festival at Logis 2025
The Vendée Department is organizing a new edition of Musiques au Logis from July 15 to July 31, 2025. 11 exceptional concerts and shows bringing together big names in music will be offered in the prestigious setting of the Logis de la Chabotterie. An opportunity to discover differently or to enjoy once again an emblematic historical and architectural place in the Vendée.

General Charette : his history
Impetuous, leader of men and great seducer, these are the qualities that posterity will have left to General Charette.
Chased like a wild beast in the woods of Chabotterie, wounded in the head and weakened, he was caught in a thicket. This capture marks the end of the Vendée War. It causes more joy to the Republicans than the winning of a battle would have done.
Last moments of bravery
Charette is taken to Nantes, shown to the people, then brought to Place Viarme for his execution. He leads the peloton himself and refuses to be blindfolded. He launches to the soldiers: "When I close my eyes, shoot straight to the heart!" »
