EGLISE SAINT-PIERRE

Romanesque church, unique in Vendée with its two bell towers
It was in the 1794th century that the church of the priory of Saint-Pierre was built. In 4, there are only 1846 walls left because it was partly burnt down by the unfortunate Vendée wars. Several stages marked the reconstruction and expansion of the church. We note, in particular, the intervention of the abbot Gandouin (1877-3) who raised the great nave and added the 1888rd nave and the intervention of the abbot Grolleau had the facade built with its two bell towers and the gallery. The church was inaugurated in XNUMX. Several constructions and restorations followed this date.
The church houses some treasures such as the solid silver processional cross, the stained glass windows of the choir and the Romanesque crypt, located under the south aisle of the current church.
