The landscape of the Vendée bocage is marked by the course of the rivers which form valleys.
Dams have been built to supply the inhabitants with drinking water. The first dam is that of Angle Guignard in Chantonnay.
Water reservoirs on rivers form natural recreational areas conducive to relaxation
The surroundings of the lakes of the Vendée bocage are an opportunity to practice nautical activities on the water and take advantage of the banks to observe the fauna and flora. Many hiking trails, fishing trails, picnic areas, children's games... allow you to enjoy these relaxation and leisure areas.
Touchegray-Moulin Neuf Lake in Chantonnay
This leisure area was redeveloped in 2018 and offers during the summer a sandy beach with supervised swimming, water activities: canoe, paddle and pedal boat rental and many activities... close to Chantonnay, this leisure area is very pleasant with its pedestrian path along the lake and the hillsides, numerous picnic tables.
The Lake of Rochereau – Sigournais
This large water reservoir supplies drinking water to a large part of the Vendée. On the Sigournais side, at a place called La Morlière: a family leisure area has been set up with games for children, a zip line, a fitness trail, pony rides in July and August on Friday afternoons in collaboration with the center equestrian of the Tuilerie, a path accessible to people with reduced mobility with picnic tables … and geocaching. La Morlière bar and restaurant, terrace overlooking the lake.
Vouraie Lake – Bournezeau – Saint Hilaire le Vouhis
This large water reservoir has a rather difficult 14 km footpath, which goes around it, it is accessible to horses and mountain bikes. A short 2km circuit starting from La Martinière in Bournezeau is more accessible. The dam is located in the town of Saint Hilaire le Vouhis, car park starting point of the trail.
Bultière lake – Chavagnes en Paillers
The dam of the Bultiere was commissioned in 1994. It is preceded by a water reservoir with a large storage capacity in the Grande Maine watershed. A landscaped path around the lake allows you to discover the dam and the serenity of the lake upstream. 13 km loop.

Lac de la Tricherie in Mesnard la Barotière
Lac de la Tricherie in Mesnard la Barotière is the place for summer activities, a few kilometers from Les Herbiers. In summer, a beach atmosphere reigns there with its supervised beach, aquapark, paddle, pedal boat and Tépacap Vendée, the tree climbing park in the Vendée bocage. Its snack bar restaurant with a view of the lake allows you to take a break at the water's edge.
