Domaine de la Barbinière – St-Philbert-du-Pont-Charrault – Chantonnay
The ideal companion for your celebrations: wine! Wine in Vendée? Yes, Vendée Vallée has a few acres of vines on its land, and even an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée: the Fiefs Vendéens! The slopes of the Lay valley are home to this vineyard related to Loire wines. You will discover all the extent and the richness of the wines of the Domaine de la Barbiniere, this family estate deploys its ranges around three cuvées: Silex, Eclipes and Festives. So go to the cellar to taste these little wonders, in all moderation!
Epiard vineyard – St Philbert de Bouaine
Located in the north of the Vendée department, Sandrine and Freddy (brother and sister) took over the vineyard from their parents. Freddy takes care of the viticultural part: maintenance of the vines, vinification, preparation of orders, delivery... Sandrine takes care of the administrative, commercial, customer reception and guided tours in English. The Epiard vineyard offers a wide range of wines: rosé, red, white with Muscadet to accompany your fish and seafood dishes and some special vintages.Guided tour from June to the end of August from Monday to Friday at 11 a.m. and 16 p.m.
Focus on “Muscadet”
This dry white wine with a controlled designation of origin is mainly known to be produced in Loire-Atlantique. However, Muscadet is also produced in Vendée! Two communes in the Vendée bocage are notably covered by the “Muscadet-côtes-de-grandlieu” appellation: Rocheservière and Saint-Philbert-de-Bouaine and four communes by Muscadet without a local name: Cugand, Rocheservière, Saint-Hilaire-de -Loulay and Saint-Philbert-de-Bouaine.
Brasseries
In 2001, Brasserie Mélusine was the first brewery to open in Vendée. The work of Laurent Boiteau, its leader, is rewarded in 2020 at the Salon de l'Agriculture with two medals. Today, you can find many craft beers in the area. The Brasserie La Louette offers beers from raw materials 100% from organic farming. Opened in 2021, Brasserie Mortania wishes to be part of a local approach, it offers 4 permanent beers and 1 ephemeral beer, brewed on the basis of a seasonal recipe.
