What is Atout France?
Atout France is the French tourism development agency. It observes markets and tourist trends, strengthens the marketing and qualification of the offer. It issues the registrations necessary for the sale of tourist products as well as rankings of tourist accommodation.
The agency carries out annual studies on specific tourism themes and sectors, and provides advice to project leaders. It coordinates tourism with the Regions and Departments.
Since 2012, the new classification of tourist accommodation is in place. It concerns hotels, campsites, furnished tourist accommodation, holiday villages and tourist residences.
Tourist customers are increasingly demanding and étoiles remain an important and universal landmark. There quality of service and welcome is a key factor in the success of the French tourism economy. The French State has therefore decided to better guarantee the quality of its tourist offering by improving the official classification system thanks to greater adaptation of it to customer expectations and international practices.

A simple classification process
From the website ofAtout France, the operator of a hotel, campsite, holiday village and tourism residence can carry out a pre-diagnosis.

Atout France pronounces the star rating from 1* to 5* of a 5 year validity and the announcement on its website. The operator can communicate on its classification. Reclassification is carried out at the request of the owner.
Help with classification
To help structures in this qualification process, the Vendée Vallée tourist center grants help with classification, to the qualification of tourist accommodation. This aid is granted to the 1st classification carried out by an accredited organization, in the amount of €50 for furnished accommodation, guest rooms in Reference bed and breakfast qualification, €150 for hotels and campsites.

Labels and sectors
For tourist accommodation, 4 official labels are represented in Vendée: Gîtes de France, Clévacances, Paysan Home and Fleur de Soleil. Their mission is to qualify the offer that you wish to make available to the tourist. It is important to contact them to find out how they work, the membership process, the promotional tools offered, prices, and their membership criteria.
A label is a guarantee of quality towards the customer. The tourist chooses a label because he knows its criteria and its values, because he knows that the accommodation has been visited, checked and complies with the values of the label.

Bed and Breakfast Reference
A qualification for guest rooms which is based on 60 criteria (the room, the equipment, etc.), valid for 5 years, the visit is carried out by your Tourist Office.

The “Accueil Vélo” brand
