MALLIEVRE PETITE CITÉ DE CARACTERE

Village labeled Small City of Character, tells the story of the weavers of the Sèvre Nantaise. Guided tour July and August every Tuesday at 18:15 p.m. Meet in front of Point I, place des weavers.
Mallièvre, on its hillside overlooking the Nantes Sèvre, preserves within its walls the memory of a brilliant past: medieval stronghold, stopover lodge on the way to Compostela, city of weaving...
Here, the remains of the medieval castle, the tall residences of the master weavers, the houses built on the granite; there, the high dry stone walls, the alleys, the flowered rockeries…

The former weavers' village has not forgotten the activity that made it prosperous. A dark, damp cellar recalls the days of hand-weaving. After this heritage visit, the bucolic paths naturally lead back to the banks of the Sèvre, along calm and green hillsides...
Guided tour every summer, every Tuesday at 18:15 p.m. departing from Point I de Mallièvre, Place des tisserands. Reservation required at the Tourist Office.
