Description

On the Wine Routes, this 41 km wine tourism circuit takes you on a journey through the Vendée bocage. The Vendée nature, its heritage and its AOC classified wines will surprise you. Welcome to the Pays de Chantonnay!
The loop starts in Chantonnay, a former industrial town known for its famous lime kilns. On the road, bucolic landscapes will be offered to you: washhouses, castles, villages, lakes, ponds...

Arriving in Sigournais, this pretty little town offers a historical circuit. Put on your sneakers and set off to explore its church, its fountain, or its feudal castle (open only in July and August). After the visit, taste a braised ham, a Vendée specialty, accompanied by a glass of red wine “Les Silex” (AOC Fiefs Vendéens Chantonnay). Tradition obliges! After honoring the regional cuisine, nothing better than a digestive stroll around the Rochereau lake, to put the world to rights and breathe in the fresh Vendée air.

By car ! The road takes you to the Priory of Grammont, one of the best preserved in France. Looking for peace and quiet? You are in the right place.

To finish this loop, Puybelliard will surprise you with its old houses with mullioned windows, its church, its washhouse or its prison tower. It also offers a historical circuit to do on foot or by bike.
