The “Rendez-Vous at the Gardens” event in Vendée Bocage takes place on the first weekend of June. This year, the event takes place from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 June 2025, on the theme “Stone gardens – garden stones”.

This event is an opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of the parks, private gardens open for the event in Vendée in the Bocage Vendéen. The gardens are mainly open on Saturdays and Sundays to the general public. In France, more than 2200 parks and gardens (joined by 400 others across Europe) will celebrate these twentieth Rendez-vous aux jardins!

Chateau de la Source, Rocheserviere

As part of the 21st edition of Rendez-vous aux Jardins, the Parc de la Source will open its doors with the theme: “the five senses – The taste of flowers”. On the program: an exhibition on Jean-Jacques Audubon (animal painter) and The Bees: presentation by Sylvain Lariagon. Honey tasting/sale on Saturday and Sunday. Visit to the rose garden with illustrations and explanations about the little ones
animals that we hear in the garden.

The gardens of the Priory Saint-Pierre, Réaumur

Circuits are offered in the garden and the park, Friday from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 18 p.m. Admission: €5/adult (€3/group of under 10 people), €3/student and 11 to 18 year olds, and free for under 11 year olds. Registration required.

At n°2 rue du Prieuré, go through the gate and discover an exceptional place with its architectural heritage, its shaded paths, its ornamental garden and its new orchard. Listen to the musical harmony of nature, the singing of birds, the rustling of the wind in the foliage, the stridulation of insects, the sound of the water which descends through a stream of the pond towards the Grand Lay, which flowing into the river and lapping in the washhouse. Note, in the successive spaces of this garden, the strong link between the river and the landscape of the Haut Bocage with a gradual scaling of maintenance. The quality of this garden, its unique character and its authenticity, allow the Prieuré Saint Pierre to be the only park in Vendée to benefit from protection as a Historic Monument.

Garden of the House of Rural Life at the Flocelliere

This community garden in the heart of the green hills of the Haut Bocage Vendéen is the result of the work of a hundred volunteers. They practice ecology around organic gardening, the diversity of the bocage landscapes and the multiple flavors of forgotten vegetables. The CPIE offers you a guided and commented stroll to discover the rich biodiversity present in its eco-gardens.

Cedar Garden in Montaigu-Vendee

Discovery tour of a 1850th century garden at the foot of the ramparts, surrounding the town center of Montaigu-Vendée. The buildings were rebuilt in 2000 on the ruins of the mythical “Château des trompettes”, a fortification which defended the Saint-Nicolas bridge. This enclosed garden, not overlooked, of nearly 12m² is a verdant setting on terraces, facing south, which gives direct access to the Maine river. The Chevérière garden

Garden of aromatic and medicinal plants open to the general public. In this garden, the owners do not use pesticides, the treatments are natural and plant-based. They transform the harvested fruits and vegetables into jams, syrups and drinks. FREE ENTRANCE. Free. Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2 from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m.

Discover Le Logis de la Chabotterie with your family in Vendée Bocage

Garden of the Logis de la Chabotterie in Montréverd

With its gardens and its park typical of the Vendée bocage, the departmental domain of Chabotterie is home to a reservoir of biodiversity of more than 150 species of animals and 200 species of plants and flowers.
Come stroll along the bridleway and discover the orchard and the plant labyrinth.

The enclosed garden of La Chabotterie (included in the visit to the Logis) is a French-style garden combining pleasure garden and vegetable garden. Beauty and utility combine at the heart of the 18th century art of living.

Gardens of the Cure in Mortagne-sur-Sevre

The gardens of the Cure, facing south towards the Sèvre Nantaise, offer beautiful views of the valley and the river, sheltered from the life of the town but a stone's throw from the historic center. It is a remarkable site, both for its position on the hillside of the Sèvre Nantaise and for its exceptional architecture. These completely renovated gardens have been returned to their original state: ponds, fountains, stairs… in the Clissonnais style, inspired by Italy.

Neurodon 2024

Gardens support the event on Neurodon in Vendée Bocage, for each paid entrance, 2€ are donated to brain research, the French Brain Federation www.frcneurodon.org. 

In 2024, the event will take place on the weekend of May 4 and 5, 2024.
