Gardens of the Cure in Mortagne-sur-Sevre

Sheltered from the life of the village but a stone's throw from the historic center, facing south towards the Sèvre Nantaise, the Jardins de la Cure offer beautiful panoramas overlooking the valley and the river. It is a remarkable site, both for its position on the hillside of the Sèvre Nantaise and for its exceptional architecture.

The Gardens of the Cure are built in terraces against the old fortifications of the city. We discover an architectural trend called Clissonnaise, an alternation of brick and granite inspired by Tuscan gardens and imported into the region.

The Cure Gardens are divided into several spaces : the vegetable garden, the belvedere terrace, the large terrace, the orchard and the hillside.
The water circuit is an important element of the gardens. Present on all the terraces, it flows naturally from one to the other. Existing springs and a rainwater harvesting system feed the ponds, fountains, and the seguia that runs along the large terrace.
